The Ozols Collection is an organization dedicated to preservation, research, practice, and education in historical painting techniques. It is a federally recognized non profit 501(c)(3) organization.

At the collection we simultaneously look to history and the future with the understanding that one can not exist without the other.

Our unique and irreplaceable archive is foremost a teaching collection which documents the pedagogy of painting while inviting scholarship on the diverse language, practice, and history of visual literacy.

Give NOLA day is organized by the Greater New Orleans Foundation https://www.gnof.org

This year we hope to retain a paper conservator to stabilize a number of important drawings by Auseklis Ozols.

Ozols has lived, painted, and worked in New Orleans since 1970. He founded the New
Orleans Academy of Fine Arts in 1978   https://ozolscollection.org/1642-2/to preserve historical painting and
drawing techniques and highlight their relationship to contemporary
expression.

He has demonstrated and taught these techniques to countless
students in our community over the past 50 years.

In his own painting, Ozols utilizes these techniques to highlight the beauty of the southern
landscape, its flowers in still lives, and countless portraits of prominent New Orleanians.

His extraordinarily prolific painting discipline allows a walk through the culture and landscape of the south
as well as an understanding of classical technique as it intersects contemporary expression.

Our goal this year is to restore and frame at least three drawings.
