Give NOLA Day 2025, The Ozols Collection. Help us conserve, preserve, and restore this monumental Christ Drawing created by Auseklis Ozols, currently in a state of great damage and disrepair.

Auseklis Ozols with his drawing of a rising Christ among the live oak trees of the Gulf South. Here he is pictured adhering the drawing done from life onto the altar of St. Rose De Lima Church in Bay St. Louis, MS.

We need to retain a paper conservator to repair and conserve this monumental figure drawing created by Auseklis Ozols. This was the “cartoon” (drawing from life that was applied to the altar wall to paint upon. This is the same technique that was used by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci for transferring observation based life drawings of figures to walls for murals. Perhaps the technique is most noted in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican.
