It is so exciting to see the transformation of this mural through the decades. Ozols is currently painting a few additions and we are all so excited to see what they will be ! What a wonderful honor for the artist and what a great testament to communication and sharing ideas through the visual arts.
“I am preparing to leave for the Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge, to finish final additions to my mural there, pertaining to Governor John Bell Edwards’ administration. This is the final year of his tenure. I received a commission at the start of the Foster administration, from the Governor’s Mansion foundation, to paint murals on all four walls of the entrance hall, that would express the varied landscape of Louisiana. As the work progressed, I suggested including Tidbits that characterize an accomplishment of the governor in residence, and I have continued this work through the Mike Foster, Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, Bobby Jindal and The John Bell Edwards tenures.
I will write more about the history of this endeavor at a later date.
