Saskia Ozols, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts & the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts

Who am I and why am I doing this?

 https://www.saskiaozols.com/about/

For the past 20 years I have been recording the connections created with realist painting between the cities I have lived, worked, and studied in.

I have published numerous articles on the topic from 2003 to the present day; as well as teaching classical and realist painting and drawing techniques since I received my MFA.

The continuation and documentation of our artistic legacy in New Orleans has become one of the most important things in my life.

The record of exhibitions, publications, and curatorial projects I have worked on to promote the art of New Orleans within the greater context of American art history is available below. There is still much to be done.

This is an artistic legacy that I have both inherited and inhabited. As founder of the Ozols collection (for the purpose of documenting my father’s work in founding of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts in 1978,) https://ozolscollection.org/1642-2/  and Founder of the Fine Arts Preservation Society of New Orleans; https://practicepreservation.org/mission/

I look forward to learning and understanding more with each artist I encounter and each piece of history that accompanies them.

Please reach out if you are interested in getting involved !
